Article that all social security recipients are required to register in person in April is *** and misleading. Only those who are changing where their payments are deposited now need to appear in person at SS offices. Dangerously misleading and sure to cause panic.

Verified ReviewerBlatantly False Article from Tododisco About In Person Identity Proof to Receive Social Security Benefits
Tododisca recently posted the following statement in an article: 'A major change is coming for millions of Social Security beneficiaries in the United States. Beginning in April, all recipients will be required to verify their identity in person at official offices in order to continue receiving monthly payments.' This claim is completely devoid of truth and will cause needless worry for millions of Americans.
According to SSA: Social Security is strengthening the process to prove identity related to direct deposit information. This applies to individuals who need to provide initial direct deposit information when applying for cash benefits and to someone already receiving benefits if they choose to later change their direct deposit information on our records. The easiest and most secure way is online with a personal my Social Security account.
The public does not need to contact Social Security unless they need to change direct deposit information and cannot do it online. People will continue to receive their benefits on schedule to the bank account information in Social Security's records without needing to prove identity.

Verified ReviewerMisinformation
They are publishing misinformation related to the Social Security Administration see below:
I have seen this repeated several times but not on major or legacy media sites:
To ensure continued receipt of benefits, all Social Security and SSI recipients must: 1Create a Login.gov account. 2Migrate their information from the My Social Security platform.
3Verify and update all personal data on the new system.
Missing this deadline may result in temporary or permanent loss of monthly payments, according to the SSA. As such, beneficiaries are strongly encouraged to complete the transition as soon as possible to avoid unnecessary disruptions.
Preferred solution: Apology
User's recommendation: AVOID

Just repeatedly telling seniors bad info about their social security. What do they hope to get out of this cruel maneuver?Do not read anything they say!!!
Wrong information on Social Security benefits.
Tododisca reported that one must reapply in person for SS benefits on April 1st. The SS website states: "No.
You do not need to contact Social Security to continue your monthly benefits at your current bank. If you need to change your direct deposit information in the future, you can change that information online with a personal my Social Security account or automatic enrollment service through your bank."
User's recommendation: Tododisca is a Spanish Web company. do not listen to them.

When I read this article I realized that it was incorrect and became very concerned that it would cause panic I cover Congress for a living and my reporting is that only Social Security recipients changing where their payments will be sent have to go in person to SSA offices to verify identity. This kind of misinformation is dangerous and very unfair to readers. Please double check and verify what you read if it contradicts other stories that you hear.
Tododisca is obviously engaging in clickbait and is a dishonest and unethical enterprise.
This is fake but still posted,,,SS would not post it,,they would send you a letter
I was skeptical too, I've received SSA via direct deposit since 2014. Zero notices regarding verification have been sent by SSA. This definitely an irresponsible misinformation post.
I just saw that article on my Google newsfeed as well! I was confused and skeptical at the same time, as the SSA would generally send a notice by mail regarding any changes impacting beneficiaries. I'm reporting the article for misinformation!
